before our trip

We take off tomorrow for our trip to Amarillo! We're super excited and I've been packing all day. Before we go I need to clear my phone of pictures and get the blog all caught up so I can blog about our trip when we get back.

It snowed. It sucked. I hope it doesn't do that again.

I did a workout video and Ruby was so funny doing the warm up and cool down with me. She got too tired to do the rest of it.  I had my yoga mat out, so she used her Yo Gabba Gabba nap mat. Adorbs.

Ruby and Eliza got cute banana milkshake mustaches.

Waiting in line for the slide.

We went on an outing to the Riverwoods, which is my fave. After dinner at Marley's, we got ice cream at Provo Beach Resort. Ruby chose the Krazy Kolors flavor, which must have used nasty amounts of food coloring.

Every Tuesday and Thursday we spend the day at Celia's house, because Nathan is gone all day. She is pregnant and freakishly sick with home IV therapy for 8 hours every day. Ruby and Eliza play, the boys run around, and Jane sits with me on the couch. The only way I can get her to nap over there is laying down on me--which I love.

Ruby and I had a girl date, shopping and The Chocolate.

It was my turn to plan date night this month. We went out to use the telescope that I got Kyle for Christmas and we still hadn't used. Buuuut Ruby was still awake when we wanted to leave so we decided to let her come out to the parking lot with us. I knew she would love it! We ate popcorn and sat in the back of Kyle's truck and looked at the moon. She was so excited.

We got a new stroller for Jane! We love it.

Kyle has been so sick and in such pain for the last couple weeks. Here he is at Two Jacks, happy for pizza but sad in every other way :(

This baby was so tired she fell asleep with the bottle in her mouth. Crazy girl. I love the heck out of her.

Two Jacks

Two Jacks is our favorite pizza place. Seriously, it is amazing pizza. Their lunch deal is really good and we do dinner there too. It's a little hole in the wall ish, mostly because it shares a building with a gas station, but we don't care. It's clean enough and it's worth it for the pizza. I don't know why we think it's so fun to go there, but it is.

Anyways, last week Ruby's preschool class went there an hour before it opened and had a little tour and demonstration from the elder Jack himself! I was a little starstruck :) He was so nice to do it! We got to go back in the kitchen and watch him make a pizza while he explained everything. Then we got to watch him grate two huge blocks of mozzarella and he gave us all a handful of cheese. At the end, we all got to eat the pizzas he made us!  Ruby freaked out. She loved it. Meeting Jack himself was such a big deal. We ate dinner there two days later and saw him and she was SO excited.

The next day we spent two hours at the library. I love Springville's library!

Aaaaand went to Krispy Kreme. Sprinkles FTW.

And now I'm officially caught up on my blog. February was kind of crazy-- we were out of town, and then we got home and everyone was sick, and then Ruby hurt her arm and Kyle was sick...it was rough. But everyone is better now (except Jane) and we're ready to be back in business.

Other things:
I was released from my calling in YW this week. I wonder what's next for me.
Ruby is freakishly cute like 90% of the time. We've reinstated naptime so hopefully the other 10% will improve.
Now that I read in bed every night, I'm way behind on my shows. I have a ton of Red Eyes and episodes of The Five to catch up on.
We're going to Amarillo in a couple weeks! To prepare for our journey I just got my first Audible audiobooks to listen to. We got Ruby a booster seat, and hopefully Jane will be ready for her next seat before we leave. Everyone will just be more comfy. We also got a new stroller for Jane that should get here next week, which I'm randomly really excited for.
I've only seen Austenland twice since it came out on DVD two weeks ago. Not nearly enough.
The shows I watch with Celia are back on! We have standing dates on Saturday and Sunday nights--for The Walking Dead and Hannibal. So what if our nightmares have really amped up lately?
We've done Family Home Evening every week so far this year. I really, really love it. I mean, we're together every night anyways, but it's fun to have a night with an official lesson, activity, and treat. Ruby loves giving everyone assignments. What I love is that she likes giving the lesson, with help from me. It's adorable.

March 5

It's been a tricky couple of weeks, but there were some good moments along the way.

Family date to Coldstone, Mommy's favorite.

We're kind of in a constant state of going to Two Jack's. It's the best pizza ever.

Ruby loves Tinkerbell and her friends :)

We had a sad moment last Tuesday. Ruby was playing on a play structure in Whitney's back yard and fell off. I have NEVER heard her scream like that. We checked her arm out and she really couldn't move it normally and it hurt so much--so she ended up at Instacare with a mildly broken wrist.

She had to wear a splint and bandage for a week.  It hurt really bad and she couldn't use it for anything. That first night and day was the worst.

Luckily she got some fun presents from her friends to make her feel better :)

I got a Kindle. I was against e-readers for so long, as a purist lover of books, but it really is so convenient and fun. I love being able to read at night without turning on a light that would bug Kyle. And it holds 1000 books! And books are more accessible now. I'm reading a ton more than I have the last little while.

Kyle turned 30!  On his birthday he and I went to Outback for a fun date, then came home and watched his favorite movie (okay 2nd favorite movie) Reckless Kelly. He got some fun presents, including this adorable robot that he built with Ruby. I got him a smart watch, and he claims it is the best present I've ever given him. I'm pleased!

7 Months

Jane is so oldddddd. 7 months! She loves when Daddy pretends to be a puppy, and watching him and Ruby do pillow fights, and watching us dance, and watching Ruby do anything basically.  She is the smiley-est baby ever, but it's not easy to make her laugh.  When she does, she will laugh at the same thing for ages. She is really into toys--stuffed animals, balls, anything she can grab and play with. Her favorites that she gets to play with in her crib are Baby Winnie the Pooh, Baby Cinderella, a Vera Bradley bunny lovey, and a racoon lovey. She has mastered her exersaucer and likes to play in it while craning her neck to watch whatever show Ruby has on.

Her hair is starting to grow finally, so her head is really soft and perfect for rubbing your face on. I think it's a bit blonder than Ruby's was? Her cheeks are pretty dry so she has permanently rosy cheeks. I apply lotion but I do love the rosiness :)

She has ONE tooth that we just saw today.  She loooves eating solids--except meats, which she refuses after two bites. Her fave is sweet potatoes.

She still can't sit up by herself! I think she's just so tall and big, it's hard. We want to switch her to the convertible carseat because she's getting too tall for her infant carrier, but that means she has to sit in high chairs and shopping carts--which she can't do. We experimented at Walmart yesterday and she lasted about 2 minutes before falling over. Come on baby!

as of February 18

This is about how the drive home with Dad went :)

BUT once we made it we had a ton of fun with Baba!

After he left, Ruby developed a wicked ear infection. It was pretty horrible. You can't tell from this picture though--I'm telling you, she LOVES going to the doctor.

We had a fun Valentines Day. Ruby dressed up all cute and...ok I can't actually remember what we did. We had a little party with our friends and had a heart-shaped pizza for dinner. We decided that Valentines would be kind of a family deal, not just me and Kyle. ALSO that we should all get presents. Any excuse for presents, right?

Ruby finally saved up $5! This is her counting her money.  She finally got to go buy that Cindrella floating bath toy she wanted.

Our FHE games are so fun. We just got Candyland and she's loving it.

Always interested in what she can crane her neck to see. Crazy baby.
