At her 4 month appointment, Ruby:
is 25 inches long (83%)
weighs 14 lbs. 5 oz. (64%)
has an average head (54%)
Ruby rolled over for the first time on January 9th, and has rolled over 2 times since then.
She entertains herself for quite a long time in her jumper. I love it because it gives me a chance to get ready in the morning.
She drinks 7 or 8 oz. every 3 hours. I can hardly keep up with her! I guess we'll start introducing solids soon, which will probably help.
Ruby is super social. She smiles at anybody willing to play with her. She's now razzing, laughing and starting to say consonants (her first was ah-goo, and now she's starting the "b" sound) so playtime is even more fun.
She's growing out of clothing at an alarming rate. Every day I discover something that is too short for her.
Ruby is a total daddy's girl. She loves me when we're home together, but if Kyle's around, all she wants to do is beam at him and play with him. He is way more fun than I am! It doesn't bug me though, because it means I can get a lot done while Kyle takes care of her, plus I'm the one providing the food so I don't feel too left out.
I'm trying to get Ruby on a schedule--turns out it is trickier than I thought. Any good ideas on how to extend naps? These 45 min. naps just aren't long enough and she's still tired when she wakes up.
The shots were sad and hard, but she was fine by the time we got in the car. Brave girl. Man, I have never seen her face get so red--or heard her scream so miserably. Glad that's done for another 2 months!

I LOVE that first pic! So cute. Can't wait to see her.
Kyle and Becca,
Ruby is just adorable. Brielle has those same heart/apple pajamas! She's only a week or so older than Ruby, but smaller, in the 10-15 percentile. maybe because she drinks like half the amount that Ruby does! she's got some catching up to do! Good luck with the schedule...my pediatrician hasn't given me any tips, just to let her start lengthening out her sleep by herself. awesome. maybe I should learn to nap for 45 minutes at a time too =) take care! hugs to that Ruby baby
Becca, Ruby is SO adorable! Also, I recommend reading Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child by Dr. Weissbluth, if you haven't already. It's pretty awesome and has really helped me and Wyatt work out a good schedule. I think his tip that we used for extending naps is to go into their room and be as boring as possible while you put their pacifier back in, wrap them in their blankets, or basically do whatever will help her calm down the most and then leave. If they start crying again, then go in again but do even less to help them calm down. The third time, go in and just talk to them for a sec. Then don't go in again. I did this for about 3 days and Wyatt got the hang of it. Good luck!
What a perfect ending to a very happy birthday day.--seeing the adorable photos of Ruby! She looks so grown up. I am dying to see her again. I can hardly wait for President's day!
I need more pictures. Please make some more appear!!!!
